From 20 February to 23 February 2005, MK-SP took part in the Banknote 2005, where leaders in the banknote community from industry and government gathered at the Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC to discuss and explore emerging trends and leading technologies in the banknote industry.
Founded specifically as a forum for this specialised community, Banknote 2005 was the fourth bi-annual conference on the banknote industry – building on the success of Banknote 2003, Banknote 2000 and our 1998 Conference on Banknote Substrates: Polymer vs. Paper. The Banknote Conferences have achieved growing success over the years. Banknote 2005 enjoyed a 33% growth in attendance over our 2003 conference – much of this increase attributable to greater participation by central bankers and issuing authorities from over 50 countries.
Banknote 2005 was unique as a working conference with a single goal of providing a venue for those organisations – both government and industry – with an interest in the direction of banknote usage in the coming decades. International speakers from manufacturers, suppliers, governments and law enforcement agencies reviewed and discussed all aspects of banknote design, production, issue and usage. Delegates participated in a dynamic and informed exchange of news, opinions, and ideas between the leading professionals in a growing, rapidly changing field.
