The official visit of President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Chuommaly Sayasone in Russia was held on October 12-16,2011 at the invitation of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. During the highest level negotiations the priority was given for expanding bialateral cooperation and the optimization of trade structure.
At the meeting with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has continued to discuss the implementation of major joint
projects primarilly in areas such as hydropower, mining industry, telecommunications and others.
At the meeting of Laotian President in the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, Federation Council Chairman,stressed,
in particular, that Russia is experiencing the kindest fellings for Laos and its people.
At the end of the visit the Embassy of Lao PDR in Moscow was arranged a friendly meeting between the Laotian delegatioin
headed by President T. Sayasone with the leadership of Russian-Lao Friendship Association, Russian Peace Fund and other public organzations as well as business representatives that are directly related to the further development of bilateral ties between our countries and peoples.
